and the Vancouver Fuel Cell Vehicle Program are major Canadian
fuel cell/hydrogen initiatives that Chris Curtis, Vice President,
Fuel Cells Canada highlighted in his presentation.

Lars Sjunnesson, Director, Corporate R &D
Sydkraft AB / E.ON Nordic and Professor,
Lund University, explained how the hydrogen
filling station in Malmö uses a mix of hydrogen and natural
gas. The station is delivered by Stuart
Energy.

"I can't wait to get a fuel cell in there!",
commented Fuel Cell Technology's Director
of Sales, Gary Allen. Allen referred to the
environmental pilot project in Hammarby Sjöstad,
Stockholm, to which Fuel Cell Technologies
Ltd will deliver Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC)
systems.

Jane Dalziel, Director of Communications & Government
Liaison at Hydrogenics Corporation gave a
glimpse of the future, as she explained how
fuel cell vehicles can supply power back
to the grid and provide back-up, peak-shaving
or reserve power to houses, power tools and
laptops.

According to Tore Bäckström, Senior
Vice President, Business Region North America,
Volvo Bus Corporation, governments should
focus short term on upgrading existing bus
fleets with modern buses.

"Major achievements with respect to robust
operation, sufficient lifetime and competitive
cost have to be achieved by R&D before this new and promising
fuel cell technology can enter broad markets".
